g-CN-CNF as Bifunctional Catalyst for Cathode of Zinc-Air Battery |

Metal-air batteries are becoming of particular interest for their high specific energy density compared to other energy storage devices, in particular the lithium-ion technologies. Among the different types of metal-air batteries, the zinc-air system represents a safe, potentially inexpensive and simple way to store and deliver electricity. A zinc-air battery is composed of three main components; a zinc anode, an alkaline (KOH) electrolyte and an air cathode. The air cathode is the most crucial component that determines the charge/discharge characteristics and performance. In this study, we proposed the metal-free catalyst, g-CN (graphitic carbon nitride)-CNF as bifunctional catalyst for ORR and OER. g-CN-CNF catalyst exhibited comparable primary battery performance and showed excellent cycling stability in rechargeable battery. |
