Both peel strength and adhesive residue are important factors in the application of pressure-sensitive adhesives. Peel strength needs to be maintained constant for an extended period of time with the least content of adhesive residue after peeling off. In this study, the variation in both peel strength and residue content was investigated depending on the kinds and composition of monomers. Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives were synthesized by using the monomers of ethylhexyl acrylate, acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate. Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives were applied to PE base film by a bar coater. Peel test was carried out with a universal testing machine. The residue content was determined through a microscope. Both peel strength and adhesive residue content varied considerably depending on the functional groups in acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives. |
