Polymer-based nanocomposites with well-dispersed nanofillers could be widely used in many fields due to superior mechanical properties. Among nanofillers, carbon-based nanofillers have been considered as appropriate materials for nanocomposites. However, it is crucial to disperse carbon-based nanofillers uniformly in the non-polar polymer matrix. Graphene oxides (GOs) have been used for many polymer-based nanocomposites due to excellent mechanical and thermal properties, and unique structure. The compatibility between GO and the polymer matrix can be enhanced through modification of the GO surface by incorporating linear alkyl chains. In this study, we prepared alkylated GO/polypropylene nanocomposites by controlling the length of alkyl chains of the alkylated GO and their enhanced mechanical properties were investigated by measuring tensile properties. |
