Techno-economic Analysis of Integrated Solid Oxide Fuel Cell–Gas Turbine-Organic Rankine Cycle Powered by Seaweed Biogas |
초록 |
Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) represent a promising technology for stationary power generation. In this work, biogas obtained by anaerobic digestion of brown algae (Saccharina japonica) is used as the SOFC energy source. In order to increase the quality of the biogas, a water scrubber and ZnO bed were used to clean-up the biogas. By implementing this simple solution, the overall electrical efficiency of SOFC increases from ~45 to ~55 %. With a goal to utilize the high amounts of waste heat that SOFCs generate, the design was integrated into a combined heat and power generation process consists of SOFCs, gas turbine, and organic Rankine cycle. Thereby, energy and economic analysis were performed to evaluate the process as a whole. Few possible scenarios were explored to illustrate the effect of SOFC lifetime on the entire process economics based on National Renewable Energy Laboratory reports. |
