Nanostructures are required for improvement in various applications while anodic oxidation of metal is one of the simplest and cheapest method to fabricate nanoporous structures. Among many kinds of oxidized metals, titanium dioxide (TiO2) can be applied for many fields with photocatalytic property and large surface area. Until now, the most widely used types for anodization of Ti were sheet or wire shaped titanium. However, the particle of Ti has not gone through anodizations yet. Here, we focus on the fabrication of TiO2 nanoporous particle which has cavity inside by anodic oxidation. The experiments consist of two-step anodization for highly ordered nanostructure, TiO2 bottom opening, and Ti etching for hollow TiO2 microsphere. Various fields such as gas sensing, drug delivery, dye-sensitized solar cells, and photocatalysis are also promising for the hollow nanoporous ATO microspheres. |
