Synthesis and Characterizations of a Thermosensitive End-cappedPEO-PPO-PEO Block Copolymer by Lipoic Acid |

The thermosensitve physical hydrogel based on synthetic block copolymers, have attracted increasing attetion recently due to its potential biomedical applications in drug delivery, cell encapsulation, tissue repair, etc. Pluronic triblock copolymers composed of PEO-PPO-PEO are macromolecular surfactants that exhibit temperature-responsive micellization characteristics. They undergo self-assembly into spherical micelles having a core dominated by PPO middle blocks surrounded by a corona of hydrophilic PEO side blocks in aqueous solution above a certain critical micelle temperature. It is known that entropy change driven by hydrophobic interactions between the PPO blocks play an important role in maintainning their self-sssembly structures. In this study, Pluronic was end capped by lipoic acid utilized as antioxidant agent. Also, the micelle structure, and sol-gel transition behavior of modified Pluronic were investigated by dynamic light scattering ,and transmission electron microscopy. |
