Multivalent sialyl ligands as inhibitors of influenza viruses |

The design of multivalent sialyl ligand that conjugate nano-scaffold represents a potential strategy for inhibiting the binding of the influenza virus. In this study, we present a strategy for the synthesis of multivalent sialyl receptor designed to conjugate nano-scaffold with controlled flexibility and valencies. The mono- and multivalent ligand structures were confirmed by 1H-NMR and mass spectroscopy. The antiviral activities of the ligands were investigated by hemagglutination inhibition and fluorescence-based neuraminidase inhibition assays. Synergistic inhibition effect of the multivalent sialyl ligands was observed from the study on influenza virus inhibition of the nano-scaffold (e.g., phage) conjugated with the same ligands. |
