제목 Fabrication of Artificial Bone skull structure with t-ZrO₂and HAp  by Compaction Using PMMA As Pore Replica
초록 The artificial skull bone consisted of layered structured with dense layer sandwiching a porous layer. A biomimetic skull microstructure was fabricated by using hydroxyapatite, a mineral constituent of the natural bone and the bioinert t-ZrO2 ceramics. Dense and porous layers were made separately by compaction. PMMA was used as the pore replica for making the porous structure. Green compacts of the dense and porous regions were compacted together by uni-axial pressing. Burning out was carried out to drive the PMMA, and PEG was used as binder for making compact. The materials were sintered at 1450 °C.  
Detailed microstructural analysis was carried out by SEM, XRD. Material properties like compressive strength and porosity of the sandwiched structure were investigated in detailed.
Furthermore the cell viability and cell attachment of biomimetic skull were performed using L929 fibroblast like cell and MG63 osteoblast like cells.
