제목 Hyaluronic Acid Hydrogels for Soft and Hard Tissue Engineering Applications
초록 A novel protocol to control the molecular degradation of hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogels was developed using various kinds of crosslinkers for soft and hard tissue engineering applications. The carboxyl group of HA is known to be the recognition site of hyaluronidase and HA receptors. Accordingly, HA hydrogels prepared by the crosslinking of the carboxyl group of HA appeared to be stable longer than 6 months, which were successfully applied for tissue augmentation in wrinkled model mice. In contrast, HA hydrogels with a relatively fast degradation kinetics within 1~2 months were successfully applied for bone tissue engineering. Artificial bone substitute of MegaGen synthetic bone (MGSB) and degradation controlled HA hydrogels implanted to the calvarial critical size bone defects in New Zealand white rabbits resulted in excellent bone regeneration by the continuous provision of osteogenic and angiogenic HA from the HA hydrogels.
