Color-tunable mono-domain in blue phase I transited from blue phase III under anisotropic boundary condition |
| 초록 |
We investigated the influence of surface boundary conditions on blue phases (BPs). The BP mixture consisting of bent-core nematogen and chiral dopant exhibited only BP III between isotropic and cholesteric phases in a sandwiched cell, whereas the BP III transited to BP I for a droplet sample in which the molecules exhibit planar anchoring on the bottom substrate and homeotropic anchoring near LC/air boundary. The transited BP I showed uniform mono-domains with a single reflection color and a red-color shift as decreasing temperature. |
