Alginate immobilized Al-intercalated acid activated bentonite as a sustainable sorbent for the remediation of aqueous phosphate: Batch and column studies |
초록 |
Phosphate removal from contaminated water is crucial to preventing eutrophication. Here in present investigation we synthesis and characterize the aluminum-pillared acid activated bentonite and alginate encapsulation/immobilization aluminum-pillared acid activated bentonite into the beads to examine the feasibility for phosphate removal from natural waters and municipal waste water. The dynamic phosphate uptake behavior was evaluated using adsorption kinetics and isotherms with effects of pH, initial phosphate concentration, contact time, adsorbent dose, and background electrolytes in a series of batch experiments. In addition in view of importance of continuous flow conditions in large-scale industrial wastewater treatment, the feasibility of aluminum-pillared acid activated bentonite beads for the removal of phosphate from aqueous solutions was assessed in continuous mode in fixed bed column study. |
