제목 Overview of Sustainability R&D Programs at LG Chem
초록 Sustainability is an irreversible social trend redefining the way how we live. Sustainability has many faces; it could be an index to evaluate company’s performance (e.g., ESG), it may promote or demote certain industries. LG Chem’s Corporate R&D is committed to drive sustainability and brings new solutions to society. Active programs are many: inventing new type of biopolymers like PLH, bio-based fermentation and purification to place petrochemicals like acrylic acid, transforming SAP to readily compostable bio-based counterpart, directly converting CO2 to polymeric films, developing micro-cellulosic fiber composites to reduce carbon foot print in automotive products. Going farther, novel antimicrobial monomers are synthesized, which can be polymerized into the backbone of various polymers like acrylics providing permanent and safer hygiene free from dissolution. Sustainability cannot be contained in R&D projects, however; it is a journey incurring behavioral change the way we live. LG Chem’s R&D will never stop this journey as it is a corporate mission to incessantly create more value to society and customers we serve.
