Fibrinogen is a soluble blood plasma protein which is converted into fibrin by an enzyme thrombin during the blood-clotting cascade. Also, it has a cell binding motif which promotes cell attachment. We investigated the effect of the fibrinogen correlated with calcium phosphate on the biological responses of SaoS-2 cells. Surface morphology was observed by using SEM. Adhesion, proliferation and differentiation assays for SaoS-2 cells were performed. This study demonstrated that the cellular responses can be greatly modulated by the presence of fibrinogen, which can be correlated to the possible upregulation of osteoinductivity. |
