Cholesterol is an essential component of human cell membranes and performs various functions in the body. When the level of cholesterol in the body rises, it form crystals, and these cholesterol crystals (CC) are the cause of multiple diseases such as steatohepatitis and cholelithiasis. In this research, cholesterol crystallization kinetics on oil-water interface is checked, and using substances derivate form cholesterol, several phenomenon that affect crystallization kinetics are observed. This result claims that cholesterol derivatives can have an influence on the cholesterol crystallization, compare the factors such as size, number per area, nucleation time, and etc. In addition, optimum experimental conditions(reactants' concentration, temperature) that can remove CCs are also discussed to limit cholesterol crystallization. |
