Fischer-Tropsch (FT) reaction is known as a structure sensitive reaction. We prepared the catalysts with uniform size in certain size range to obtain optimum catalytic properties. The nanoparticles of cobalt or iron oxide with controlled size were synthesized and then supported on γ-Al2O3 to prepare cobalt or iron FT catalysts. The catalytic activities were examined in the fixed bed reactors. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, TEM, TPR, O2-titration, and H2-chemisorption. It has been found that the catalytic activity, selectivity and stability were dependent on the particle size of iron as well as cobalt. In case of cobalt catalysts, the particle size dependency was found only in the range smaller than 9.3 nm, while in case of iron, only in the range smaller than 6.2 nm. |
