We report a facile synthetic route for well-defined miktoarm star copolymer composed of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) and poly(methyl methacrylate) ((P3HT)2-b-PMMA) by anionic polymerization and click reaction. In here, we first prepared PMMA terminated with 1,3,5-tris(bromomethy)lbenzene (PMMA-(br)2) by anionic polymerization. Then, azido group (PMMA-(N3)2) was introduced. For the synthesis (P3HT)2-b-PMMA, Copper(I)-catalyzed Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition(CUAAC) type click reaction between ethynyl-capped P3HT and PMMA-(N3)2 was performed. We used slightly excess amount of ethynyl-capped P3HT so that all azido groups at the end of PMMA were completely reacted with ethynyl-capped P3HT. The miktoarm star copolymer in crude product was completely separated by using column chromatography from residual PMMA. The optical property and thin film morphology of the (P3HT)2-b-PMMA were investigated by using UV-Vis spectra and atomic force microscopy, respectively. |
