In this research, it will be introduced surface structures and properties of the new comb-like polymers containing terminal OH groups in the side chains. These polymers consist of poly (oxyethylene) or poly (stryrene) backbones and sulfonyl alkyl side groups with OH groups in the side chains. The side chains of these polymers are well aligned on the polymer surface due to the dipole-dipole interaction between sulfone groups of the side chains. We expect that terminal hydrophilic OH groups which are well exposed on the polymer surface can strongly affect the surface structure and property of the polymers Herein, surface structures and properties of the polymers will be analyzed by near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS), electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA), grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXD), atom force microscopy (AFM) and contact angle goniometer. |
