Organization of biopolymer is important for not only the evolution of a biological system but also to be construction material for well-defined nanostructures. Recently, several researchers have investigated the formation of Liquid crystalline pattern in drying droplets of semiflexible biopolymers such as a DNA and actin filaments. During the final stages of drying, the contact line retracts, and the radial stress causes buckling at the rim and form a periodic zigzag structure. However, a formation of the zigzag pattern was restricted to the droplet edge. Herein, we developed a method for the zigzag structure on a desired position. The DNA solution was brushed to form unidirectional alignment parallel to the brushing direction. At the final stage of drying, the contact line recedes and the linear buckling form periodic zigzag structure in a large area. This zigzag structure can provide applications to bio-template for nanoparticles or other biomaterials and electrical nano-device. |
