We fabricated hexagonally-packed core-shell nanorods consisting of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as a core and polystyrene (PS) as a shell by one step process using anodic aluminum oxide(AAO) template. For this purpose, PMMA and PS bilayer without and with reactive functional groups were sequentially spin-coated onto a silicon oxide wafer. Then, AAO template was placed on the bilayer film and annealed at 180°C under vacuum for 24 h. We found that core-shell type nanorods were only prepared from reactive bilayer, not non-reactive bilayer. The sizes of the core and the shell could be easily controlled by changing the thickness of each layer.
