제목 | Synthesis and Characterization of a Photosensitive Liquid Crystal Alignment Layer for a Vertically Aligned Mode |
초록 | Polyimide has been widely used as a material for electro-optic devices on their own advantages such as excellent thermal property, good mechanical property and electrical property, etc. In this study, we have synthesized a poly(amic acid) from a photosensitive diamine and an alicyclic dianhydride, which can be used as a photo alignment layer for vertically alignment mode. The poly(amic acids) were synthesized from cyclobutane -1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride [CBDA], 4,4`-diaminodiphenylmethane [MDA] and a photosensitive diamine prepared from trans-3-phenyl acryloyl chloride in NMP. We have investigated electro-optic properties of liquid crystal display cells fabricated with the photo-aligned films, such as a voltage holding ratio (VHR), a residual direct current voltage (RDC voltage) and a pretilt angle. The voltage holding ratio and the residual direct current voltage were about 98% and less than 50 mV, respectively. The pretilt angle was about 89o~ 90o at voltage off state. Further, we`ll discuss the liquid crystals alignability and change of the pretilt angle after the photo-irradiation . Fig 1. Optical microscope images of LC cells.
