Role of Polymethylhydroxysiloxane and Silica Aerogels on the Preparation of Superhydrophobic and Highly Transparent Micro-Nano Hybrids |

Superhydrophobic and highly transparent polymer/silica micro-nano hybrids were successfully prepared by simple blending of various ratios of polymethylhydroxysiloxane (PMOHS) with two different silica aerogels (as from methyltrimethoxysilane and methyltriethoxysilane precursors) in separate containers. The hybrids were spin coated on glass substrate at 1000 rpm for 60 seconds and used for further analysis. The functional groups, surface morphology and chemical compositions of hybrids were analyzed by FTIR, SEM-EDAX, and XPS. The transparency and static contact angle (SCA) for water to each hybrid samples were measured by UV-vis spectrophotometer, and drop shape analysis system. The prepared hybrids showed good superhydrophobic nature as well as transparency on glass substrate. |
