PCL- Gelatin Multilayered Scaffolds Fabricated by Air-Jet Spinning for Controlled Drug Release |

We fabricated porous 3D scaffolds by air-jet spinning (AJS) to provide the appropriate environment for the regeneration of tissues. AJS is an alternative to electrospinning, due to its low-cost and high efficiency. Gelatin has been widely used in pharmaceutical and medical fields, because of its biodegradability, biocompatibility. Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a biodegradable polymer, and has been studied greatly, especially in biomedical field and drug release system. We choose alporin and epocelin as model drugs and utilized SEM and FTIR to analyze the characteristics of scaffolds. We made single layered scaffold with 5% gelatin as control group and multilayered scaffold with 5% gelatin and 7% PCL as test group. The release time of PCL- gelatin multilayered scaffold, which is up to 5 days, is longer than that of gelatin scaffold. As a result, the multilayered scaffold fabricated by air-jet spinning could sustain drugs for a longer time. |
