In this study, magnetic silver nanoshells (M-AgNSs) which have magnetic and SERS properties was applied for SERS-based detection. The M-AgNSs are composed of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and bumpy silver shell for rapid accumulation and sensitive SERS detection in near-infrared laser excitation. We detected intensity of the SERS signal from the M-AgNSs and it was enough strong to provide detection of single particle-level. Also, it was obtained in the aggregated M-AgNSs that was much higher SERS signal intensity from the non-aggregated AgNSs. We detected 4-Fluorothiophenol at concentrations as low as 1nM, and it was corresponded to 0.16 ppb. We also detected to the limit of detection (LOD) that was 10 µM in tramethylthiuramdisulfide , and it was corresponded to 3 ppm. The M-AgNSs can be applied for detection to trace amounts of organic molecules using a portable Raman system. |
