In this study, we investigated the electric heating performance of the electroless Ni-P plated carbon fibers (NiCF) heating elements according to the carbon fiber (CF) length. The NiCF heating elements were prepared by electroless Ni-P plating for 30 min on CF and adjusted to six different CF lengths, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1 m. The Ni-P layer thickness and surface morphology of the NiCF were measured by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The specific resistivity and specific heat of the NiCF were determined using 4-probe method and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), respectively. The surface temperature of the NiCFs was also measured by thermo-graphic camera at fixed 12 voltages. |
