An efficient hydrogen production using the anion exchange membrane water electrolyzer (AEMWE) was limited to the low activity and high cost of oxygen-evolution electrodes. Herein, a simple strategy to fabricate superhydrophilic NiFe-based gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) is proposed using electrodeposition method. In brief, applied electrodeposition potential to the electrode was negative, hydrophilicity of the electrodes was increased. Accordingly, the performance of the oxygen evolution reaction increased. Compared with the state-of-the-art NiFe-based anodes, the NiFe-based GDE employed as an anode for AEMWE single-cell operation demonstrates a remarkable activity. |
