In order to prepare the polyurethanes from biobased-isocyanate and biobased polyol, the routine to synthesize soybean oil-based polyisocyanate is reported in this study. In the first step, epoxidized soybean oil was ring-opened by using 1,6-hexanediamine as a nucleophilic agent, whereas as in the second step, obtained primary amine was converted to isocyanate by using triphosgene. The effect of amount of 1,6-hexanediamine and reaction time on the ring-opening reaction was investigated. In addition, the transformation from amine to isocyanate was also optimized. The final product was characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR analysis. The thermal and mechanical properties of obtained biobased polyurethane was also conducted by different methods. |
