제목 Layer-by-Layer Assembled Stimuli-Responsive Nanopore Membranes
초록 Among various preparation methods to realize smart materials that could change their structures and properties in response to external stimuli, the layer-by-layer assembly, based on polyelectrolytes leading to swellable multilayers, is a powerful method because it could be applied to any shape and size of substrates and, at the same time, the multilayer films assembled at specific conditions show significant swelling behavior that could be modulated in response to post-treatment conditions. In the present study, by introducing swellable multilayers into nanoscaled pores with less than 100 nm in diameter, we could additionally reduce and control the pore diameters of anodic aluminum oxide membranes, yielding smart ultra- or nano-filtration membranes with various cutoffs realized in one membrane. Based on the swellable nanopores in membranes, the translocation behavior of small spherical molecules and chained molecules through the stimuli responsive membranes has been studied in detail.
