Stilbenes constitute an important class of photochemically well examined compounds; not least owing to their applications in materials science as optical brighteners, laser dyes, optical recording media, photoresists, photoconductors, light emitting diodes, materials for nonlinear optics (NLO) etc. Employing solid phase organic synthesis (SPOS) methods in which three steps sequential process was easily isolated and purified, unsymmetrical stilbene compounds were produced through the nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of polymer-bound stilbenesulfonate resin and aryl Grignard reagents. In this reaction method, linker cleavage was generated in the process of coupling of carbon-sulfur bond using Grignard reagent preceded by the substituent of sulfonate structure in resin. Crucial to this reaction is that cleavage can be done without the trace that is obliged to be generated after linker cleavage. |
