Development of Novel Traceless Linker Using Polymer-bounded Arenesulfonates |

There has been significant interest in recent years to develop “traceless” linkers which afford compounds lacking any extraneous functionality that may limit their usefulness. Nickel-catalyzed reactions between polymer-bounded arenesulfonates and i-propylmagnesium chloride produced corresponding arenes in good yields via the reductive cleavage of carbon-sulfur bond. This novel traceless cleavage strategy, which does not remain undesired functional groups derived from the solid supports, appears to be a powerful tool for the preparation of large oligophenyl libraries. |
