Aromatic poly(1,3,4-oxadiazole)s (PODs) are known to have excellent thermal, chemical, and hydrolytic stability. For this reason, PODs have been developed for uses as fibers, films, and membranes. Recently, graphene sheet and its derivatives have been considered as ideal reinforcing nanoscale fillers because of their superior tensile modulus, strength, electrical conductivity, thermal and chemical stability, as well as large surface area and aspect ratio. To expand the applications of PODs as high performance materials, we have manufactured a series of POD/graphene nanocomposite films by using ultrasonication-assisted solution-mixing and casting, and have systematically investigated their microstructures, thermal stability, electrical property, and mechanical property as a function of the graphene contents. Furthermore, the electrical heating performance of the nanocomposite films has been evaluated by applying different voltages of 1~100 V. |
