제목 | SELECTIVE OXIDATION OF PRIMARY HYDROXYL GROUPS ON β-CYCLODEXTRIN |
초록 | Cyclodextrins are a family of cyclic linked oligosaccharides consisting mainly of six, seven and eight glucose units. They have the remarkable property of complexing with a large variety of guest molecules in their hydrophobic cavity. Selective chemical modifications of the hydroxyl groups in order to prepare new compounds with specific properties are difficult due to the large number of hydroxyl groups in cyclodextrins. By using 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl radical (TEMPO), selective modifications on primary hydroxyl groups of β-cyclodextrins (β-CD) were described. In this study, the primary hydroxyl groups on β-CD were oxidized with the reaction of sodium hypochlorite, sodium bromide and catalytic amounts of TEMPO keeping pH at 10. The synthesized carboxy-β-CD was characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR spectroscopies. |
