Ionic conductors or ionic liquids have been widely used as iodide (I-) sources in redox couples for hybrid solar cells (HSCs). Ionic conductors such as 1,3-dimethylimidazolium iodide (DMII) and 1-propyl-2,3-dimethyl-imidazolium iodide have been used as an iodide source in electrolytes. Ionic liquids such as 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium iodine (MPII) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide were applied as an iodide source in redox mediator. In this study, a Cu(II) complex was mixed with MPII or DMII, and they were applied as hole transporting layers of organic-solvent-free HSCs. When the Cu(II) complex was used with MPII, a HSC showed a PCE of 2.776%, resulting from 9.51 mA/cm2 of the short-circuit current (Jsc), 0.524 V of the open-circuit voltage (Voc) and 55.70% of fill factor (FF). On the other hand, a device, in which the Cu(II) complex was mixed with DMII, showed a PCE of 3.646% (Jsc = 15.11 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.426 V and FF = 49.56%). |
