The advantages of PANI used as a sensitive layer of gas sensor are the diversity, intrinsic conductivity, fast response, low cost, light weight, ease of synthesis, stability in air, and particularly sensitivity at the room temperature compared to the inorganic sensing materials. However, the problem with these conducting polymers has been the low processability and poor mechanical and chemical stabilities. The graphene-based conducting polymer composites have attracted much attention due to high aspect ratio, outstanding electrical conductivity, excellent mechanical properties, and cost efficiency. Graphitic materials such as graphite, GO, and graphene were incorporated for the preparation of composites. Graphene was synthesized by the chemical reduction of GO. GO was prepared from natural graphite by the Hummers method. PANI/graphitic materials composites were prepared by in situ polymerization and characterized by FE-SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, RAMAN, TGA, and resistive response. |
