Highly ionic conductive crosslinked PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymer electrolyte for all-solid-state supercapacitor applications |

Novel ionic liquid (IL)-doped crosslinked PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymer electrolytes (cPL-TPEs) were prepared from triethoxysilane-endcapped PEO-PPO-PEO precursors (PL-TPE). PL-TPEs were synthesized by reacting terminal hydroxyl groups of the corresponding Pluronic® copolymers with (3-isocyanatopropyl)triethoxysilane. The conductivity of a cPL-TPE with 150 wt% IL reached 2.5×10-3 S/cm at room temperature and 1.6×10-2 S/cm at 80 °C. These values were higher compared to that of the PEO electrolyte with the same IL content thanks to their entirely amorphous structure that plays a critical role in facilitating ion transport. In addition, all-solid-state supercapacitors based on cPL-TPE electrolytes were fabricated using graphene electrodes made by kneading method. These supercapacitors showed a stable electrochemical response up to 3.2 V operating voltage and were capable of yielding a high specific capacitance of 115.8 F/g at a current density of 10 mA/g. |
