제목 Image based porosity analysis of carbon block for artificial graphite
초록 Optical microscopy analysis was conducted to investigate the porosity on the surface of carbon block. Carbon block was manufactured by following step; selection of feedstocks: coke and binder pitch, Fabrication of artifacts (rod and block): extruding and press molding, and heat treatment and impregnation: carbonization and graphitization. Carbon block was analyzed to identify the mixing condition during kneading process. It was confirmed that coke particle (white) was covered with binder (white). After carbonization (900℃), binder was converted to coke-like structure. Optically analyzed images were edited to binary image to calculate the porosity based on the pixel statistics. In addition, 3D-rendering was performed to identify the roughness and depth of porosities generated during the carbonization. Porosity analysis method obtained by optical microscopy with image calculation is a potential analytical tool for investigating the porosity related to structure.
