제목 Preparation and Characterization of Transparent Polystyrene Nanocomposites using Surface Engineered Organophilic Layered Silicates
초록 We have designed the oligomeric modifier free from aliphatic components having critical problem such as compatibility and thermal stability, and successfully developed a route to chloromethyl functionalized oligomers based on oligo(St-co-VBC)s to enhance interfacial compatibility of organophilic layered silicate (OLS) and polystyrene (PS). The modifier containing onium ion effectively ion-exchanged with Na-MMT (montmorillonite) to form OLSs. Several modifiers, oligo(St-co-VBC)s with low molecular weight were synthesized by free radical polymerization and nitroxide mediated living radical polymerization (NMP). The NMP gives narrow molecular weight distribution as compared to that of free radical polymerization. We have investigated the effects of molecular weight and molecular weight distribution related to ion exchange reaction. Furthermore, we have confirmed that the oligo(St-co-VBC)s prepared by NMP were excellent modifier below molecular weight 15,000.
