제목 | The Li4Ti5O12 Inverse Opal as an Anode for the Lithium Ion Battery |
초록 | Lithium-ion batteries have been studied as an alternative energy storage system. In their system, cycle life remains a significant challenge for application in commercial devices. Spinel-type lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12) having its stable reaction potential of 1.55 V (vs. Li+/Li) and “zero strain” property is presented as an attractive anode material and this have a theoretical capacity of 175mAhg-1. However, Li4Ti5O12 shows relatively low conductivity due to empty d orbital of Ti4+ state. In this experiment, the Li4Ti5O12 inverse opal was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction between lithium precursors andTiO2 inverse opal templates that were fabricated by self-assembled closed packed PolyStyrene (PS) sphere. The Li4Ti5O12 was assembled into coin cells to investigate its characteristics as anode for Li ion batteries. It showed high-rate lithium storage characteristics with the specific capacity of ~170mAhg-1. High rate capability is attributed to the rapid pathway for ion and electron transport from their periodic and porous three dimensional bicontinuous structure. |
