Influence of Surface Treatment on Thermal and Mechanical Interfacial Properties of Expanded Graphite Reinforced Epoxy Composites |

In this work, we have prepared the expanded graphite reinforced epoxy composites with acid treatment for improving the thermal stability and mechanical properties. The surface characteristics were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The morphologies were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The thermal stability was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). TGA results were analyzed by activation energy (Et) for main decomposition stage according to the Horoxitz-Metzger method. The mechanical properties of the composites were studied using critical stress intensity factor (KIC) measurements. |
