제목 | Interfacial Evaluation of Natural Ramie and Kenaf Fibers/Epoxy Composites using Micromechanical Test and Acoustic Emission |
초록 | Interfacial shear strength (IFSS) between natural Ramie and Kenaf fibers and epoxy matrix is one of the important factors in controlling mechanical performance for environmental friendly natural fiber reinforced polymer composites. It may be necessary that IFSS should be determined by an optimization with their final purpose. In this work, to select the optimum fiber and matrix system, interfacial properties between natural fibers and various epoxy matrices were evaluated by microdroplet techniques combined with nondestructive acoustic emission (AE). Tensile strength on gauge length for natural single-fiber tensile test was analyzed statistically by uni- and bimodal Weibull distribution. IFSS between two natural fibers and epoxy matrix were compared to each other. Microfailure modes due to fibril structure was observed through optical microscope and measured indirectly by AE and their FFT analysis. Thermoplastic matrix and biodegradable matrix systems will be followed after this work. Acknowledgement: This study was financially supported by National R&D Program by KISTEP.
