Effect of molecular weight on dispersion stability ofZAO/acrylic copolymer nanocomposites |

Nanocomposites were prepared by using zinc aluminum oxide (ZAO) nano powders and acrylic copolymers. Acrylic copolymers were synthesized by solution polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate with AIBN as an initiator. Molecular weight of acrylic copolymer was controlled by varying the initiator content. The molecular weight of acrylic polymer played an important role in the dispersion of ZAO nano powders. The transmittances of ZAO/acrylic copolymer composite films were measured in the wavelength range of 200~3000nm. All nanocomposites showed the high transmittance in the visible wavelength range due to the finely dispersed ZAO nano powders and the low transmittance in the ultraviolet wavelength range due to the effective absorption by ZAO nano powders. |
