Hollow gold-silver nanostructures have been actively harnessed in many applications for developing sensors, diagnostics, and chemo-thermo therapies due to their unique properties of nanoscale size dimension, reduced particle density, hollow interior vacancy for loading, extremely high surface-to-volume ratio, tunable surface plasmon resonance band. Another important feature of hollow Au-Ag nanostructure, photothermal conversion and hyperthermia effect was efficiently carried out by near infrared (NIR) absorption. In the present study, we developed facile synthetic strategy to prepare hollow Au-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles by using biocompatible polymer dextran as reducing agent of precursor and surface coating to enhance the structural durability against galvanic replacement reaction. Presented dextran coated hollow gold-silver nanoshells would be applicable as nano-catalyst and chemo-thermo therapy vehicle. |
