The Aspect Ratio Effect of Polymer Coated CuPt Nanorods on Their Catalytic Properties in Water 권태균, 김범준* 한국과학기술원 Originally nonpolar CuPt nanorods were prepared to be soluble in water by ligand exchange. Three different CuPt nanorods with various aspect ratios (ARs) of 1, 5, and 11 were produced with high monodispersity by thermal decomposition and subsequent purification process. The synthesized nanorods were initially dispersed in nonpolar solvent such as hexane. Thiol terminated poly(ethyleneoxide) (PEO-SH) was synthesized and bound to the surface of the nanorods to endow water solubility into the CuPt nanorods. The nanorods were completely transferred to aqueous phase. Their catalytic properties in aqueous phase were investigated using peroxidise-like reaction of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) oxidation. They showed high activity for the reaction, indicating excellent dispersion of nanorods in aqueous solution. The effect of aspect ratio was also studied. |
