Functionalization of Cellulose Nanocrystal and Its Use as Reinforcement for Polylactide Nanocomposites |
초록 |
Cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) obtained by acid hydrolysis from microcrystalline cellulose contains many hydrophilic OH groups which decrease compatibility with polylactide. The effective functionalization of CNC is conducted to convert hydrophilic groups into alkyl group by nucleophilic substitution reaction and the degree of substitution is quantitatively determined. The polylactide nanocomposites reinforced by functionalized CNC were prepared by solution casting method and the effects of functionalized CNC on the thermal and rheological behavior, crystallinity, and mechanical properties have been investigated. The mechanical property modeling is also evaluated to simulate the moduli of the composites and compared with the experimental values. This study accounts for the effect of functionalized CNC on polylactide matrix, providing a design guide for eco-friendly nanocomposites in industrial fields.
