Olefin metathesis provides a versatile synthetic method to produce small, medium and large molecules. Over the past two decades, wide ranges of the molecules have been prepared by various types of olefin metathesis, such as cross metathesis (CM), ring-closing metathesis (RCM), ring-opening metathesis (ROM) reactions. Here, the synthesis of various polymers with different nanostructures by olefin metathesis polymerization will be demonstrated. In some cases, the single polymer chain itself exhibits the nanostructures while others do so via self-assembly process. In this presentation, we will focus on the formation of nanosctructures via the self-assembly approach. We will introduce a new concept of self-assembly termed “in situ nano-particlization of conjugated polymers”. These polymers are characterized by UV-vis, IR, AFM, TEM, DLS and MALS to obtain the detailed structural information. |
