Organic fluorescent dyes or quantum dots have been used in numerous applications including bio-imaging and optoelectronic devices. However, they have several drawbacks such as bio-toxicity or low solid state fluorescence efficiency issues. Among extensively used organic chromophores, oxadiazole derivatives are fascinating due to their electron-accepting ability and photostability. The exploration of conjugated 1,3,4-oxadiazole containing polymers or small molecules offer enhanced thermal and photophysical stability as well as improved electron transporting property. Here, we report the characteristics of the oxadiazole derivative in both solution and solid state for possible application in the fluorescent bio-imaging. |
