The most widely used photosensitizer for the dye-sensitized solar cell application is N3 or N719 dye, depending on whether it contains four or two protons due to their intense absorption in the whole visible range and highly efficient metal-to ligand charge transfer. High performance and good stability of DSSC based on Ru-dyes had been widely addressed in the literatures. However, the Ru-dyes are facing the problem of manufacturing costs and environmental issues. In this paper, we designed and synthesized a series of organic photosensitizers containing long wavelength absorbing chromophore containing 1,8-diaminonaphthalene for the DSSC. The organic dyes containing 1,8-diamino-naphthalene chromophore could absorb long wavelength region in solar spectrum which could enhance photovoltaic performance of DSSC, thus be strong candidates for the Blue/NIR photosensitizers. |
