Among many other microalgae species, Haematococcus pluvialis is the richest source of natural astaxanthin, which is known for high antioxidant capacity. We cultured H. pluvialis at indoor and outdoor conditions. The cultivation condition was 20~25℃, with the light intensity of 0~300 umol photon/m2s. 25L polymer film type photobioreactor was used for cultivation. At these conditions, H. pluvialis accumulated astaxanthin 130mg/L in 76 days and this is a better result compared to that of indoor condition cultivation at small scale. Finally, we expect this result can be applied to industrial photobioreactor cultivation of H. pluvialis. |
