제목 가스터빈용 TiAl 소재기술
초록 The recent studies on developing new TiAl alloys for high temperature applications (>900oC) at KIMS is introduced. TiAl alloys have been gained interest for automobile and aerospace applications due to their low density, good oxidation resistance and high temperature strength. However, lack of room temperature ductility and the limitation of operating temperature hindered the practical applications of TiAl alloys. At KIMS, we have developed new TiAl alloys which have excellent high temperature properties as well as room temperature ductility. The new TiAl alloy exhibited high temperature strength of >500MPa at 950oC which was one of the highest numbers in TiAl alloys reported.
In addition, some preliminary results on forging process of the newly developed beta phase contained TiAl alloys were introduced. The forging process cannot be easily applied due to lack of high-temperature forgeability. However, the beta phase contained TiAl alloys contain beta phase volume fraction in the temperature range over 1300oC that can enhance forgeability at high-temperature. Microstructures and mechanical properties were dramatically changed with the post heat-treatment after forging process. The best approach to achieve most balanced forgeability as well as mechanical properties, and the possibility of application for gas turbine blade were introduced.
