| 제목 | Toxic materials that cause concerns to the global community. |
| 초록 | In terms of public health and national security, typical substances that pose threats to our daily lives are toxic compounds and pathogens. As evidenced in many local battles, chemical weapons are the most toxic compounds which had damaged so many soldiers and civilian by being used as asymmetrical weapons and terrorism tools. None the less it can not be denied that pathogens have caused much more damage to humans than chemical weapons. Pathogens appearing in our society are attributed to three causes: natural disease, intentional release, and accidental release. So far, the ROK government and the ROKA have steadily built their response capability against such threats, but not fully prepared yet. This presentation is to address the status of threats posed by chemical and biological agents, including newly emerging diseases. It also deals with the current status of ROK and USA preparedness against bio-threats and gaps to be improved. |
