Enhanced hydrogen evolution by liquid phase plasma irradiation in water photocatalysis over metal-loaded TiO2 photocatalysts |

Hydrogen production by the photocatalytic water cleavage using solar energy has been recognized as a promising and attractive way. In order to increase the hydrogen evolution, light sources as well as photocatalysts are very important in the photocatalytic reaction. Although various light sources had been employed in the photocatalysis, it has rarely studied about the photocatalysis using liquid phase plasma (LPP) into water directly. In this study, the LPP system was employed to enhance the hydrogen evolution from water and additive-contained water over nanocrystalline photocatalysts. We also confirmed the characteristics of hydrogen evolution by photocatalytic reaction using the LPP over the photocatalysts. The rate of hydrogen evolution by irradiation of the LPP was enhanced apparently compared with that by other method. Hydrogen evolution was promoted due to the photocatalytic decomposition of additives in water. |
